Community R4C - the Resource Recovery, Recycling & Refining Centre

Furniture Recycling Project (FRP) is a charity run by a small team of staff and a group of willing volunteers, overseen by a Board of Trustees.

Its aim is to re-use furniture, electrical goods and household items for the benefit of the community, and to help reduce social exclusion throughout the County of Gloucestershire thereby Creating a Better Community.

Re-useable items are collected directly from the public, free of charge. The items are then inspected, to ensure they meet safety and cleanliness standards.

Stroud Valleys Project works with local community groups and volunteers: helping, inspiring and training them to discover and nurture the wildlife and green spaces on their doorsteps.

Current projects include:

Queen Elizabeth II Field project to improve the Dudbridge site for bith people and wildlife

Wild About Kingswood project to create diverse grassland areas for the wildlife and public to enjoy

Transition Stroud is a dynamic group of volunteers working for a future with more locally grown food, readily available sustainable energy, better transport and strong communities.

The focus is on engagement, learning and action. Skills workshops, Repair cafes and Textiles groups all help to give things an extended life rather than just being dumped as waste.

Projects include:

SkillsGain Workshops which covers topics from bicycle maintenance to ethical consumerism

Edible Stroud  which aims to plant edible fruit bushes, trees and plants in public spaces around town.
